Marvin McIntyre is a graduate of the Citadel and a Vietnam Veteran. He began his career as a financial advisor with Legg Mason and rose to be the firm’s top advisor and Chairman of the Advisory Council. As a member of Legg Mason Wood Walker, Inc. board of directors, he was instrumental in the growth of the firm from a small regional firm to one of the most respected global asset managers in the industry. In 2006, Mr. McIntyre was acknowledged as one of the key figures in the acquisition of Legg Mason’s brokerage division by Citi Smith Barney.
While at Legg Mason, Mr. McIntyre established the High Net Worth Group, a team of highly regarded professionals to effectively serve the complex needs of wealthy families, institutions, and corporations. The group of individuals, which were ranked as the number 2 team in the country by Research Magazine, includes a tax attorney, CFA, CFP, CIMA, Retirement Planning specialists, fixed income specialists, and a former investment banker. The same team remains intact and is now known as The Capitol Wealth Management Group at Morgan Stanley.
Throughout a long and celebrated career in wealth management, Mr. McIntyre has been consistently recognized as one of the industry’s most innovative and forward thinking professionals. A pioneer in team formation, his strategy was to create an environment for clients which mirrored the advantages of the traditional family office.
Since the inception of Barron’s List of Top 100 Advisors, Mr. McIntyre has been selected as one of the top advisors in the country. In 2008, Mr. McIntyre was ranked as the #3 advisor in the country and he is currently ranked as the top advisor in Washington DC.
Featured prominently in the book, The Winner’s Circle, Mr. McIntyre has also been a frequent guest on local media outlets and on national networks such as CNBC and MSNBC. A native Washingtonian, he has been involved with both national and local charities throughout his career. In outside pursuits, he has recently authored two well-received fiction novels in which all profits were donated to charities promoting literacy and the Wounded Warrior Project.
